10 Resources for LGBTQ+ Youth

Jersey Medical Care aims to provide the LGBTQ+ community in Monmouth County and beyond with the education and support they need to live happy and healthy lives.

 


Below you can find a list of 10 local resources that connect youth to useful programs to help promote their wellbeing.

  1. PFLAG Jersey Shore - PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.

  2. NJGayLife.com - Discover more than 100 LGBTQ+ organizations, search the interactive calendar for meetings, concerts and other events, take action on important issues, and find LGBTQ+ owned and friendly businesses and professionals.

  3. Pride Center of New Jersey - The Pride Center of New Jersey provides a safe and welcoming space for all individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ to find support, educational tools, health and education resources, and social opportunities within a community of acceptance.

  4. HiTOPS - HiTOPS is a nonprofit organization that fosters strong and healthy young people of all identities by providing inclusive and youth-informed sex education and LGBTQ+ support for young people throughout New Jersey.

  5. Make It Better For Youth - Concerned and determined educators, community leaders, arts and cultural organizations, businesses and individuals who pool resources and ideas to make it better with education, outreach, and social opportunities for LGBTQ youth.

  6. GLSEN Central Jersey - A grassroots initiative working to ensure safe schools for all students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. GLSEN supports students and educators, organizes around LGBTQ-affirming public policy, plans teacher trainings, and hosts events for students, educators, parents, and allies.

  7. QSpot - Offers specific programs and services to the LGBTQ+ Community in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Meetings are held on Monday nights in Asbury Park and a once-a-month Quesday program with speakers and other events.

  8. Garden State Equality - Statewide organization for civil rights, with an advocacy arm that works to pass pro-LGBTQ+ legislation and to fight for those facing discrimination and a political arm that works to elect pro-LGBTQ+ candidates.

  9. Jersey Lyfe - Geared towards uplifting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, interested, and queer community in New Jersey and surrounding areas. Jersey Lyfe contributes to rebuilding these areas to include self-sustaining communities and businesses through donations, education and volunteerism.

  10. Out In Jersey - A comprehensive source covering the interests of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning community of New Jersey. It features news, reviews, commentary, event listings and features updated daily plus a bi-monthly magazine.
